Psychology and Habits Insights (Non-Financials)

Non-Financials post today. Just Psychology.

Coffee. I order my usual coffee from 18 Grams. I tested the past 4 weeks and I’ve noticed a difference. The taste is the same, but it’s the appreciation. MWTh are the days I have B, so those are the days I order my coffee every morning. TF I work from home, so I make my own coffee. Past 4 weeks, instead of ordering my coffee on M after dropping B off at school, I walked back home instead and make my own coffee. I appreciated the coffee on W that much more. Th coffee tastes the same. But I do look forward on my Sat coffee from them as well. For 2025, when B starts the school year, I’ll consider WThSat. MF coffee from home. Skip Tue/Sun.

As for Sushi, I told B it’s not worth buying 5 Spicy Salmon as they’re about 2.8 per piece. Wednesday is our Sushi day. I mix it up every week. We didn’t keep up with the schedule as it got confusing, so we stopped. Regardless, we’ve been buying the 10/boxes on end of day sale. He said it tastes different. As long as B knows not to expect something, he’ll appreciate things more, eg Sushi.

KFC. B doesn’t like popcorn chicken anymore, and prefers only Chips. I order the Large one, so that he can have split them for 2 days. Pretty sure he’ll be sick of Chips by next year. B should be eating healthier, but still refuses to eat greens. I’m not sure how to include greens into his food. Surprisingly, he’s ok with seaweed.

Weighing and Walking. I weigh myself everyday. Guess it became a habit. I’m comfortable with my weight. I average 148lbs (or 67kg). Based on my BMI of 22.5-23.2, I’m considered Normal. Been maintaining this weight for the past 2 years. I’m content. Starting next week, I’ll make it a habit to weigh weekly instead. As for walking, I average between 7.5K-to-10K+ steps daily. For active walking, my average pace is 17.5min/1 mile. Depending on the weather, I can do 1.5 miles in under 25 min. Since the park is closed, I needed a new walking area. I’ll consider finding another area to walk next year and change up the environment so that I don’t get bored.

Snacks. I’ve substituted my afternoon snacks from chips-to-fruit. However, at night I still eat fruit. It seems as though I’m consuming too much fruit daily, so I’ll need to switch things up again. Sodium makes me more thirsty from chips, and fruit keeps me hydrated, and keeping hydrated from coffee, water, fruit, and milk tea makes me pee more frequently especially at night now, so I’ll need to think of something to switch up for next year where I can keep hydrated for the day while peeing less frequently at night as I tend to drink more after dinner and especially from eating fruit.
