When creating the FI Dashboard for our Net Worth, Smart GPT-5 was able to create a visual graph following certain prompts. It managed to create a combo stacked bar chart with a line overlay showing our NW excl Prop across various periods. Although Copilot Smart (GPT-5) is very similar to Google Sheets, we risk AI hallucinations after making changes on our prompting.
In the chart, there are many different variables happening all at once. In the data labels, we’ve included not just the amount, but the %’s as well. Amount is reported as K with 2 decimals, and the % is in closed () with rounded 1 decimal. Precise, but important. We’ve initially tested the amounts K with 1 decimal, but when back testing the financials, using 1 decimal risks rounding error as opposed to using 2 decimals. Since our main categories include EKSuper, EFI, Property and Prepaid Mort, only these specific categories include the %’s.
Regarding formatting, this is where it becomes interesting, and very tricky when prompting risking hallucinations. We’re able to add the table header. We’ve also included the Date. This is for our reference as our financials are based on the Date updated. For the amounts, the font size is defaulted to 10. Since the %’s were defaulted to size 10, we prompted for the size to change to 8.
The interesting part is that the data labels can be customized for many purposes. We’ve color-coded the categories on the Legend, so the data labels would be reflected. However, AI doesn’t seem to have default set colors when creating the graph, so we’ve customized our using own color palette by utilizing hex codes based our initial Google Sheets dashboard. We’ve initially snapshot our dashboard from Google Sheets as an image, then uploaded to AI and the results managed to output hex codes, so we’ll be using those. Only change we did was we changed NW excl Prop color from white-to-cream as the white line covered some of the amounts after printing.
Another feature we did was sorting the Categories from largest amounts starting at the bottom for all periods. Without sorting, AI data labels colors somehow changes after every prompt even without telling AI to do so. Regarding the Y-axis, we’ve told AI to set 500K as major gridlines and 250K as minor gridlines. We’ve told told AI a few times to set the indicators to 500K, 1M, and 1.5M and AI always hallucinates in this section. Not sure if AI gets confused between the Y-axis indicators or the major gridlines. Same issue for the Periods. AI defaults the X-axis showing Periods as slanted, but we told AI to keep it standard with no slanting. AI always hallucinates in the table header with the Date on the top left section above the table. After every prompt, the alignment somehow changes.
Regarding the financials, AI hallucinates sometimes on CURRENT, and on combo line overlay. We’ve told AI a few times that the combo line overlay starts at DEC21 and not at CURRENT, but AI hallucinates and at times even removes the whole CURRENT period. AI doesn’t allow for CURRENT period to be standalone. We prefer not to have our starting period as DEC21 as we’re used to seeing CURRENT right away. Showing CURRENT depicts our financial flows more accurately when assessing our HY trend.
We’ll update our DEC25 financials once we finish off the fiscal year. This FI Dashboard for our Net Worth (v3) is Final as of to-date. It may be hard to update weekly due to risking AI hallucinations after prompting, but if we use the financials as static, as opposed to dynamic, the AI results are more accurate. We’ll be creating another FI Dashboard, but for Metrics on another post.
