Inv Summary (W4)(JUL26)(ME)
We’ve completed W4 for JUL26 in our Power BI Dashboard. We’ve tested updating W1-W4 weekly and updating the data tables isn’t as streamlined we were hoping to be. Power BI isn’t as simple as Excel where we can just simply update a cell(s) in an existing table and automatically update the calculations based on our formulas. It requires many iterations just for a simple update.
To update our weekly amounts, we would need to create a new data table, and it can’t have the same table name. As Power BI doesn’t allow for duplicating DAX measures, we would need to copy-and-paste our existing DAX measure, create a new DAX measure, and update the data table fields and reflect our new table. In doing so, we would then need to update all of our data type formats again for each field. Assuming that this has been done correctly with no syntax errors, we would then need to update our existing table in reporting view. Updating our Power BI Dashboard weekly isn’t streamlined nor an efficient process, so we will reassess our workflow and determine how our next month’s dashboard would be updated.
