Fin Dashboard (Prelim)(JUN26)(v1)
Updated as of 19-JUN-26
Fin Dashboard (Prelim)(JUN26) [Version 1]
Although we’ve created a few different drafts when designing our framework, this is the first version we’ve officially saved. Not bad for a first pass using Power BI for our dashboard. When designing our dashboard layout, AI mentioned that our Power BI dashboard required DAX coding based on a few visuals that we provided. We prompted AI to provide other workarounds within Power BI and its features, but the Power BI interface last updates on the Desktop version limited many features, so we proceeded with DAX coding. Utilizing AI’s assistance for most of our visual models when creating measures, our dashboard is looking quite presentable. We haven’t completed our design yet as we’re missing the whole bottom right section for visuals, so we’ll include this in the second version. We believe that the blocks formulas update automatically based on the DAX codes as the data is from an existing table, and not as copy-and-pasted static data from Excel. We’ll test this further by the next updated version. Updating financials in Excel is much easier, but having merged cells and pulling data from different tabs can get messy as the reports become more complex.
In terms of its details and calculations, we’ll stick with using Excel and our advanced formulas within our existing dashboards. Power BI tables currently uses static data, so the source data is still from our Excel models, and currently considering on using Power BI for visual summaries only.
Based on our research, AI mentioned Power BI Online subscription offers the information to be updated dynamically through Excel using Power Query and Power Automate, but upgrading to a business tenant account with Copilot Studio and Power BI Online requires both accounts to be upgraded and it’s a whole other level that we’re not ready for yet. We can easily just copy and paste the data from our Excel spreadsheets to the Power BI tables as we’re building our framework.
We also haven’t officially finalized our JUN26 financials yet, so most of our financials are as of MAY26, except for our Super, so we’ve labelled this as Prelim JUN26. We also haven’t done any monthly comparisons as we’re finalizing JUN26 for the fiscal year, so we’ll consider including JUL26 as the next period, and can use monthly filters and updating the financials dynamically.
Once the framework is complete, we’ll consider integrating our dashboard online. We’re currently utilizing Copilot Studio and Power BI personal subscriptions and building the framework offline, but will consider upgrading to business tenant for online features for our dashboard if we deem it essential. We’ll also consider integrating AI agents for assessment purposes if both the Power BI dashboard, excel dashboards, and online features can streamline and consolidate our reports.
