We completed the framework for our Financial Dashboard in Power BI using JUN26 as the baseline. With limited prior experience in Power BI, we leveraged AI to guide the build and accelerate development. We created several DAX measures to properly assess key financial metrics. The visual cards and DAX logic work together to help us analyse and interpret our financial data more effectively.

Given Power BI’s restrictions on table updates, we’ll combine visual cards and DAX measures and create new tables for current and future monthly updates. Our core dataset is static, while DAX calculations are dynamic, ensuring visuals update automatically when material changes occur. We’ll keep the Excel Dashboard for daily use since it updates automatically, and populate Power BI for our monthly reporting. That way we keep daily operations simple and maintain Power BI Dashboard for monthly and quarterly analysis.

We haven’t yet decided whether fully integrating AI into our Excel and Power BI dashboards is necessary or if it might end up complicating things. For now, AI prompting has been working really well and fits smoothly into our workflow. Since Copilot is subscription‑based, we can prompt freely without worrying about token limits. We’ll keep an open mind, but AI agents won’t be a core focus for now.
